From Chaos to Calm: 2 Questions That Will Empower You Amidst Challenges
Jul 22, 2023STARTING YOUR DAY OFF RIGHT
… And Ending it Right, Too
Let's explore the necessity and value of well-established morning and evening routines and how these become particularly crucial during life's challenging phases.
The Why?
Mornings and evenings are when we tend to stop taking care of ourselves. We quit managing our energies, being effective, and staying clear-minded and creative. Remember how we start and end our day is directly related to the success we either have or don't have during trying times.
The How?
Starting our day can be a combination of a lot of different things. It could be prayer, meditation, a workout, journaling, reading, yoga, et cetera. What's important is to find your rhythm. Mix it up or do a few things simultaneously. But whatever you do, start your day calmly.
And then?
Think about the opposite. Think about what happens when you wake up and grab your phone first thing. You check mortgage back securities, the stock market, cryptocurrency, or the world news. And then, all of a sudden, there goes your nervous system.
Now you're on edge, worried and fearful. Our body's natural pharmacology is releasing hormones such as adrenaline, cortisol, and norepinephrine. Also known as the fight or flight hormones, they create a very narrow focus and make us tense and negatively affect the components of our creativity.
Let's face it.
From a health and wellness standpoint, coming from a place of stress is one of the worst things we can do to ourselves. Think back to some of the times you started your day this way. What did you accomplish on those days?
Do this!
The tip I want to give you is to start your day by asking yourself the following question:
- "What is this experience I'm going through meant to teach me, and what am I learning about myself amid the chaos, enabling me to cultivate a new existence eventually, take me to another level in my business as a leader and a human being?"
- "What can I take from this to make sure that I look back on it and say to myself, "That was one of the best experiences I've ever had."?
